Be Vietnam Wise gives legal and tax information about doing business in Vietnam, for foreign and local investors. This page explains where the answers come from, how they are kept up to date, and what they cannot do.
Be Vietnam Wise is part of Be Wise Apps, a resource providing legal, health and general information, not advice on any subject, prepared by a retired solicitor qualified in England and Wales (LLB, LLM) with over 30 years’ international commercial law experience.
Each investor FAQ names the law or official body it relies on and is written from primary sources: the National Legal Database (vbpl.vn), the Official Gazette and the Government portal, and the websites of the Ministry of Finance, the Tax Department, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Vietnam Social Security, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Intellectual Property Office, VIAC and Petrovietnam. Most official texts are published in Vietnamese; only the Vietnamese text of a law is authoritative. The useful links page lists the main bodies.
A scheduled job runs every day and re-checks the FAQs that are due, oldest first, so that every one of the 115 answers is checked against official sources at least once every 25 days. For each question it searches official Vietnamese government websites, in Vietnamese and then in English, and asks whether the current answer is still supported.
An answer is only changed automatically when all three of these are true:
Anything else is left unchanged and held for review by the editor. The “last checked” date on a question is only updated when the search actually ran. Changes are listed on the recent changes page.
The seven topic pages in the app (company, tax, employment, disputes, intellectual property, land, and minerals, mining, oil and gas) are refreshed from official sources at least weekly. If a refresh fails, the last saved version stays in place.
Chat answers are written by an AI model. Before answering, the advisor searches official Vietnamese government websites so that it can check rates, deadlines and law numbers against current sources. AI answers can still be wrong or out of date, so treat them as a starting point and confirm anything important with the relevant authority or a licensed Vietnamese lawyer.
