Your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
A CAS is a unique reference number that your university gives you once it has offered you an unconditional place. You need it before you can apply for your Student visa.

What it shows
Your CAS statement includes your course, start and end dates, the tuition fees for your first year and any amount already paid, how your English was assessed, and whether you need an ATAS certificate. Check the details carefully and tell the university straight away if anything is wrong.
When you get it
Universities issue a CAS once your offer is unconditional and you have usually met their other conditions, such as paying a deposit. Many issue them in the months before the course starts.
The 6-month rule
You must apply for your visa within 6 months of receiving your CAS.
Only from a licensed sponsor
Only universities on the Home Office register of licensed student sponsors can issue a CAS. Nobody else can sell or give you one. How to avoid scams.
