Health information you can actually make sense of.

Which country are you in?

This makes sure HealthBot always gives you the correct local emergency and non-emergency numbers, rather than a generic answer or the wrong country's.

Type a health topic below for a general overview — the same guardrails as Chat apply, so anything urgent is still flagged.

Save a profile for yourself and for anyone else you look after — up to 6 in total (e.g. "Me", "Mum", "Jordan, age 7"). Adding details lets Chat give more relevant general information — for example, flagging when something is worth mentioning to a pharmacist because of a medication already being taken. Filling this in is entirely optional, and you don't need to complete every question.

Quick answers about using the app, your data, and how HealthBot works

About Be Health Wise

Is Be Health Wise medical advice?

No. It gives general information about everyday health questions — it is not medical advice and doesn't diagnose or treat any condition. For anything specific to you or someone in your care, always speak to a qualified professional.

Is Be Health Wise free to use?

Yes — it's free, supported by paid listings from pharmacies, clinics, and other health services shown in Find Help.

What is HealthBot?

HealthBot is the app's chat assistant. Describe a health question in plain language and it responds with general information, flagging anything that needs urgent attention rather than answering as if it were routine.

What's the difference between Chat and the Health Library?

Chat is a free-flowing conversation. The Health Library is for typing a specific topic (like "eczema" or "migraines") to get a general overview — the same safety guardrails apply to both, so anything urgent is still flagged in either.

Does Be Health Wise cover children's and older people's health too?

Yes — it's designed to help with everyday health questions for adults, children, and older relatives, and My Profiles lets you keep separate profiles for people you look after.

Can Be Health Wise diagnose what's wrong with me?

No — it doesn't diagnose or treat conditions. It gives general information and will point you toward a pharmacist, GP, or emergency care as appropriate.

Is Be Health Wise a substitute for calling emergency services?

No — if something feels urgent, check Red Flags and your country's emergency number rather than waiting for a chat answer.

Is Be Health Wise part of a wider family of apps?

Yes — it's part of the Be Wise family, alongside Be Crime Wise, Be Contract Wise, Be Injury Wise, Be Pet Wise, and more, all at bewiseapps.com.

Why is health information online often unhelpful?

It's often either too technical to act on or too vague to be useful. Be Health Wise aims for plain language, a clear next step, and honesty about what the app can and can't tell you.

Can I use Be Health Wise without creating an account?

Yes — there are no accounts. Everything (chat history, saved answers, profiles) lives only in your browser on your device.

Country & emergency numbers

Why does the app ask which country I'm in?

So HealthBot gives you the correct local emergency and non-emergency numbers, rather than a generic answer or the wrong country's.

What happens if I don't select a country?

You'll be prompted to select one before starting Chat, viewing Red Flags with country-specific numbers, or using the Health Library — this is needed so the numbers given are accurate for where you are.

Can I change my selected country later?

Yes — the country selector appears on the home page, Chat, Red Flags, and Library screens, and you can change it any time.

Does the app use my location automatically?

No — you select your country manually from a dropdown; the app doesn't access your device location for this.

What if I'm travelling and my country changes?

Update your selected country before asking HealthBot anything urgent, so the emergency numbers given match where you actually are.

Is my selected country sent anywhere?

It's used to tailor responses (including the correct emergency number) and, if you choose to include your profile in a chat, is sent along with your message to the AI provider for that single question only — the same as your ordinary chat messages.

Red Flags & emergencies

What is the Red Flags page for?

It lists symptoms and situations serious enough that you shouldn't wait for a chat answer — instead, check your country's emergency number there and call it, or go straight to your nearest emergency department.

How is Red Flags different from Chat?

Chat is for general questions; Red Flags is a fast, no-typing-required reference for recognising when something needs immediate action.

Should I use Chat first if I think it's an emergency?

No — if any Red Flags symptom applies, don't wait for a chat answer. Call your local emergency number directly or go to your nearest emergency department.

Does HealthBot warn me if my symptoms sound serious during a normal chat?

Yes — the same safety guardrails that inform Red Flags also apply in Chat and the Library, so anything that sounds urgent is flagged there too.

Are the emergency numbers shown different by country?

Yes — that's exactly why the app asks you to select your country: emergency and non-emergency numbers differ, and Red Flags shows the correct ones for your selection.

What should I do if I'm not sure whether something is an emergency?

When in doubt, treat it as one — contact your local emergency number or go to your nearest emergency department, or call a non-emergency health line if one is available and the situation isn't immediately life-threatening.

Health Library

How does the Health Library work?

Type a health topic — like "flu", "eczema", "migraines", or "high blood pressure" — and get a general overview, generated the same way as a Chat answer.

Can I export what the Library gives me?

Yes — there's an Export button on the Library page to save the result.

Does the Library replace looking things up with a doctor?

No — it gives a general overview only, useful as a starting point, but it doesn't replace a proper assessment by a qualified professional for anything specific to you.

Will the Library flag something urgent if I search for it?

Yes — the same safety guardrails as Chat apply, so a search that touches on something urgent will still be flagged rather than answered as routine.

Can I search for a medication in the Library?

You can try, but the Library is designed for general health topics rather than detailed medication guidance — for specific medication questions, a pharmacist is usually the best first point of contact.

Is my Library search history saved?

It stays on your device only, the same as Chat history — nothing is stored on our servers.

My Profiles

What is My Profiles for?

It lets you save a profile for yourself and for anyone else you look after — up to 6 in total — so Chat can give more relevant general information, for example flagging when something is worth mentioning to a pharmacist because of a medication already being taken.

Is filling in a profile compulsory?

No — it's entirely optional, and you don't need to complete every question even if you do create one.

What information can I add to a profile?

Name, sex, age, approximate weight, ethnicity, diagnosed medical conditions, current medications, known allergies, smoking status, pregnancy status, and any other relevant information — all optional fields.

How many profiles can I create?

Up to 6 in total, for example "Me", "Mum", or "Jordan, age 7."

Is my profile information sent anywhere?

Only if you choose to include it in a specific chat message — in which case it's sent for that single question only, to the AI provider (Groq) that powers Chat, the same way your ordinary messages are.

Are my profiles stored on a server?

No — profiles live only in this browser, on this device. Clearing your browser data removes them completely.

How do I back up my profiles or move them to another device?

Use Export profiles to save a file to your device, then Import profiles on the other browser or device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — the file goes straight to your device.

Can I delete a profile?

Yes — open the profile and use the Delete this profile option.

Can I skip setting up a profile and just chat?

Yes — use the "Skip — go straight to chat instead" link on the My Profiles page.

What happens if I reach the 6-profile limit?

You'll need to delete an existing profile before adding a new one — the app will show a message when you're at the limit.

Saved messages, data & privacy

What is Saved Messages?

A page showing answers you've bookmarked from Chat — kept only on this device, so you can find something you asked about again without re-typing it.

Can I clear all my saved messages at once?

Yes — use the Clear all button on the Saved Messages page.

Does Be Health Wise store my chat history on a server?

No — chat history, saved answers, and your optional profile all live only in your browser, on this device.

What happens to my data if I clear my browser data?

It's removed completely, since nothing is stored anywhere else — there's no account or server copy to fall back on.

Is my chat sent to a third party?

Yes, in the sense that generating a response uses an AI provider (Groq) — your message (and profile details, only if you choose to include them) is sent for that response, the same way any chat-based app works.

Does the AI provider keep my messages?

Groq's own policy states that prompts sent through its API are not retained. Be Health Wise doesn't control Groq's infrastructure and can't make guarantees on their behalf, but nothing you enter is written to any database the app operates.

Does Be Health Wise use accounts or logins?

No — there are no accounts, so there's nothing to sign up for or log into.

Can I use Be Health Wise on more than one device?

Yes, but since nothing is stored on a server, each device's chat history, saved messages, and profiles are separate unless you manually export and import your profiles.

Does Be Health Wise monitor chat conversations in real time?

No — it doesn't monitor conversations live. If you're in a medical emergency, always call your local emergency number rather than messaging through the app.

Who can I contact about a data or privacy question?

Email hello@bewiseapps.com with any questions, feedback, or corrections.

Find Help, advertising & contact

How does Find Help work?

It shows pharmacies, clinics, and other health services near you, organised by category, with paid listings clearly marked as advertisements.

Is Find Help the same as looking up a GP?

It's a directory-style page for finding relevant local services and categories — for registering with or contacting your own GP, use your national health service's usual channels.

Can I filter Find Help by category?

Yes — use the category row at the top of the Find Help page to narrow down the type of service you're looking for.

I run a pharmacy or clinic — how do I advertise on Be Health Wise?

Be Health Wise carries paid listings for pharmacies, clinics, physiotherapists, dietitians, opticians, dentists, and health insurers, and can also accommodate product or service listings. Email hello@bewiseapps.com to discuss placement.

How quickly will I hear back about an advertising enquiry?

Email hello@bewiseapps.com and the team will work with you directly on placement and timing.

Where do I report an error or give feedback on the app?

Use the Contact page and email hello@bewiseapps.com — questions, feedback, and corrections are all welcome.

Can I suggest a health topic that isn't covered yet?

Yes — email hello@bewiseapps.com with your suggestion.

No FAQs match that search — try a different word, or ask HealthBot directly.
