Arbitration

A contract can require disputes to go to arbitration under recognised rules, such as those of the London Court of International Arbitration. In England and Wales arbitration is governed by the Arbitration Act 1996, as amended by the Arbitration Act 2025.

In Scotland

In Scotland arbitration is governed by the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010 and its Scottish Arbitration Rules.
