Questions about the tools
What can Be Contract Wise do?
It provides very powerful, carefully prepared tools to draft and review contracts under Scots law. You can create 25 types of contract, from NDAs and services agreements to shareholders' agreements, leases and guarantees, or upload a contract for a review with risk ratings and suggested wording.
Can it handle complex contracts as well as simple ones?
Yes. Choose Simple for a short agreement or Detailed for a comprehensive one with a cover page and contents. Complex drafts get the same safeguards: fixed wording for key clauses, a clause library, a liability builder, automatic numbering and cross-references, and a consistency check before export.
Is Be Contract Wise free?
Yes. Drafting and reviewing contracts is free. The app provides legal information and draft documents, not legal advice.
Who prepared the tools?
A retired solicitor qualified in England and Wales (LLB, LLM), with over 30 years' experience of international commercial law, including with international law firms and in-house. He is retired from practice but remains registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority. He holds no legal qualification in Scotland and does not claim any authority to practise or advise on Scots law.
Should I still see a solicitor?
For anything important, yes. Use “Have a solicitor check this” on any finished draft to send it to a solicitor for review before you sign.
What kind of contract do you need?
Pick the closest match. If nothing fits, describe your situation below and we'll work out where it belongs.
Not sure which category?
Describe your situation in a sentence or two and we'll suggest the right category.
How thorough does this need to be?
Both tiers produce a contract that's enforceable and properly drafted — the difference is how much protection and detail you get beyond the essentials.
Simple
- Core commercial terms for your deal
- Essential boilerplate only — what's genuinely needed for enforceability
- Short-form force majeure and termination
Detailed
- Everything in Simple, plus audit rights where relevant
- Full warranties/indemnities schedule
- Detailed IP ownership and assignment provisions
Check everything before we generate
This is exactly what will be used to draft your contract. Edit anything that isn't right.
Upload a contract to review
We'll extract the text from your document before anything is sent to the model. You'll get a plain-English summary, a flag list of anything unusual or one-sided, a missing-clause check, and a chat that only answers from what's actually in your document.
Points are flagged and rated from your side of the deal.
